CPD Seminar Shares FDS Expertise

We thought that architects were keen for more technical information, legislative insights and value engineering fire design tips and our recent CPD seminar proved that we were right!

More than 40 architects attended the event at The Building Centre in central London and 92.5% rated the seminar as extremely or very useful following the presentations.

Explains managing director, Andy Riley: “We work with architects all the time so we know that they are always looking for ways to increase the design flexibility of their schemes and value engineer their designs to help reduce build costs and improve property yields for the developer.  That’s what we do and this event was designed to share some of our expertise with architects to help them see how much can be achieved if they bring in the experts at the very earliest stages.”

Planned as the first in a series of CPD seminars, the event in March concentrated on residential schemes and saw FDS Consult UK team up with our sister company, FDS Solutions, to offer delegates an end-to-end view of fire design, value engineering, installation and fire management planning.  The presentations covered areas as diverse as code compliancy, smoke ventilation, sprinkler systems and Building Regulations (ADB) and the Regulatory Reform Order.  The company’s insights were supported with case study examples, cost comparisons, technical data and test results from the FDS testing facility.

“We are delighted with the response to the CPD seminar,” Andy continues, “it clearly demonstrates that architects understand the value of taking a more creative approach to fire engineering and are looking for ways to meet fire approval requirements whilst delivering greater functionality, aesthetics and cost efficiency to the client.  FDS prides itself on having the very best expertise in the industry and at this event we were able to share some of that expertise with our guests.”
