You’re Hired! FDS Consult UK is on the search for an Apprentice

With Britain starting to build again following the recession – the Construction Products Association are predicting an increase of 6.4% rise in commercial construction in 2015 – its an exciting time to get involved in the industry.

The need for new engineers is widely recognised, with EngineeringUK’s 2015 report ‘The State of Engineering’ claiming that the UK requires 182,000 people with engineering skills per year to join the industry to meet demand. This comes at a time where the UK currently faces an annual shortfall of 55,000 skilled workers.

At FDS Consult UK, we’ve always been a big supporter in encouraging new talent entering the fire engineering industry. In fact, some of the graduates that we’ve employed have gone on to become some of our most senior staff members.

One such graduate that has risen through the ranks with us is our Associate Fire Engineer, Jigar Pandya. Having joined us straight from the University of Central Lancashire after completing his MSc in Fire and Safety Engineering, Jigar has played a key role in providing engineered fire safety solutions on some of our biggest and most complex projects.

Jigar works with architects, developers, consultants and contractors to provide the most appropriate fire designs for their new build and refurbishment projects. Jigar works on a variety of projects across all sectors designing fire strategies that achieve commercials goals such as maximising saleable space and minimising costs, but also importantly ensuring that the building design achieves the highest fire safety standards and is accepted by all relevant approving authorities.

As part of our ongoing commitment to educating the wider construction industry of the benefits that fire engineering can achieve, from both a life safety and commercial perspective, Jigar regularly takes the lead in our CPD seminars and webinar series.

So, if you’re keen to get produce design strategies for some of the UK’s most prestigious projects and are looking for a consultancy that offers real opportunities, look no further. We’re always looking for talented and ambitious Fire Engineers to join our team. Whether you’re fresh from studying or an experienced head, we’d love to hear from you.
